The top layer is a protective and decorative wear-resistant film. It can imitate wood, stone, marble, tiles and other materials used as flooring.
Decking is the process of joining panels together into a single sheet using a 'lock.'
Laminate is a multi-layer decorative finishing coating obtained by pressing under high pressure. Consists of four layers.
Overlay is the top layer. Made from high-strength polymer resins (melamine, acrylic, etc.). This coating layer is responsible for hygiene, resistance to moisture, abrasion and impact loads. The service life of the flooring material largely depends on the quality, thickness and impact resistance of the film. The overlay can be: smooth (satin, matte, semi-gloss, mirror-glossy); structural (embossing imitating the texture of natural wood processed by blanching).
Decorative layer. This layer is paper, and a design is applied to it. Moreover, the decors can be different: imitating parquet, solid boards, imitation tiles, marble, natural stone, etc. The direction of laying the laminate largely depends on the pattern.
Some manufacturers add another layer to this layer - kraft paper, which is pressed with a decorative layer and overlay. This significantly increases the strength characteristics of the finished lamellas. This technique is called High Pressure Laminate - high pressure laminated coating.
Load-bearing boards. She is the basis. The standard thickness is mainly 8mm. It actually consists of a plate in which there is a tongue-and-groove lock of the 'Click' or 'Lock' type. Thanks to this, it is easily and without problems assembled into a monolithic, even sheet without differences or cracks. But the assembly must be carried out carefully, making sure that the lock snaps completely into place both on the end and along the longitudinal side. To increase moisture and water resistance, manufacturers treat locks with polymers or paraffin compounds.
The level of resistance to compression, bending, and tension loads depends on the density and cross-section of this layer. The quality of the panel also determines the flooring. Simply put, the characteristics that determine how long it will withstand intense foot traffic.
Base or stabilization layer. This layer is formed from paper impregnated with synthetic thermosetting resins. Designed to protect the bottom of the panel from moisture and prevent deformation of the slats. Information about the production date, batch number, and brand name is also applied to this layer.
